Grounded Grid

small scale power grid contribution?
would it be profitable to set up a building, in the grounds of a house, with several million watt diesel generators that would be wired into an 11kv local grid. They would be controled over the internet, by power company for switching in events of peak demand such as as estenders ends and peeps switch on kettles. There would be cost of maintaining the generators and running cost associated with the need for the shaft to be constantly rotated and engine preeheated. How profitable could this be? have i got the basic idea right? energy would be sold to a local power grid.
I think that qualifies you as a utility, and utilities are under (in most countries) very strict government supervision.
Building a new power plant, in the US at least, takes years of work for a large staff of lawyers and clerks, to get all of the hundreds (or thousands) of approvals needed, at all levels of government, from town up to national.
As to the actual profitability, you have to do a large amount of calculations to get that number, and you would have to talk to the other utility companies and negotiate prices with them. Pick possible locations and determine cost of construction. Again, many months of work for a preliminary business plan.
